Marina Bay Sands, Singapore
12 April 2011

The new landmark Singapore development and one of the most anticipated openings of the last year was the opening of the Marina Bay Sands hotel by the Las Vegas Sands Corporation. Envisioned by Sheldon Adelson and part of an enormous Casino, Shopping and Cultural complex, the Marina Bay Sands stands on the Edge of Singapore like the Burj al Arab in front of Dubai.

Of course these two Hotels are not to be compared but the Marina Bay’s rooftop pool is like no other. Part of the Sands Skypark but accessible only to hotel guests this infinity pool on the 57th floor of the hotel, this 150m pool spans the rooftops of three hotel towers. It’s quite the impressive view from up here, looking down onto the skyscrapers of Singapore’s financial district. Please keep in mind though, this is a casino first and foremost – and this is reflected in the service of the hotel which is more akin to a Las Vegas megaresort than a 5-Star Singapore Hotel experience.

So when you need to go to Singapore next time – and have a minute or two off for a swim or just want to lounge by the pool – this is definitely the place to do it.
